A Nation On Suicide Watch

The evening news today, August 8, 2022, brought the report that the FBI had raided the home of former President, Donald Trump, seizing a large quantity of unspecified records. The reportage was confused as to the justification or purpose for the raid and seizure of the records, although some sources were quoted as claiming that the records were classified and had been wrongly removed by the former president from the White House upon the end of his term in office.

This raid marks the first time in American history that the FBI, apparently acting in concert with the Department of Justice, has raided and entered the home of a former president. The raid and the seizure were pursuant to a search warrant, meaning that someone from the FBI swore under oath that there was a credible threat that the former president would secret or destroy records belonging to the United States, or would commit some other crime justifying the extraordinary remedy of the warrant. That is risible on its face. It is preposterous to believe that twenty months after leaving office, the former president would take such action. Reporters indicated that the FBI removed the records in boxes from the Trump residence without even reviewing them to determine whether they were appropriate subject matter for the warrant. It seems quite likely that the raid and seizure of the records was merely a “fishing trip” designed to provide the Attorney General’s office an opportunity to see personal records having nothing to do with classified documents; rather, it was a seizure in search of a crime or some violation with which to accuse President Trump.

This is the hallmark of a third world, “banana republic” government intent on jailing its predecessor. Mr. Biden has openly spoken of his wish that President Trump be arrested. If, as Ratcatcher believes, this is an effort to intimidate President Trump and his followers, it may blow up in the faces of the Democrats. Absent credible evidence of criminal conduct by President Trump, the Biden Administration will be seen acting as the East German Stasi thugs to terrorize its opponents. At its root, it seems probable that this raid and seizure of documents was coordinated with the January 6th Committee of the House of Representatives in a last, desperate effort to divert the attention of voters away from the failed Biden policies.

If the Democrats pursue this charade to the end, there is at least some chance they may trigger open warfare among Americans. There are some commentators who have speculated that the actual destruction of America is, in fact, the goal of the Biden Administration. If so, this raid on President Trump’s home may provide the “Fort Sumter” moment. God help us if that happens.
