There is great angst in both the Democrat and Republican parties over President Biden’s inability to function effectively as President. His obvious advancing dementia and his consequent mistakes are too obvious to ignore. Commentary in national news media as well as among his allies and adversaries make it clear that the country has lost confidence in him and his ability to function as President.
The rumors of discussions about the use of the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the Constitution have added fuel to an already blazing fire. While miscreants in the administrative state plotted and debated among themselves the usage of the Amendment, this is the first time it has been discussed openly and with apparent serious intent.
It is time to slow down and consider the consequences of that act. There is near unanimity among the political crowd that the Vice President is incompetent herself. To thrust her into the role of President by removing Mr. Biden would take the nation from the frying pan into the proverbial fire. We do not need that. Further, even if she could be induced to resign or decline the position of the presidency [a preposterous assumption], we would be confronted by none other than Nancy Pelosi, herself. That is a proposition too terrible to consider. Mrs. Pelosi is set to step down this fall. Nothing should be done to discourage or delay that.
As tough a pill as it may be to swallow, America is stuck with Joe Biden for now. Perhaps with the change in control of the Congress this fall, if that occurs [and the Republicans fail to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as they are so wont to do], Mr. Biden and Mrs. Harris can be impeached, and the new Speaker of the House can be installed as President. For now, grit your teeth and live with the consequences of the 2020 election.
