Conflicts of Interest

During the presidency of Donald Trump, the progressive media and their Democrat allies made sure that we all knew that the Attorney General of the United States was definitely NOT the attorney for Mr. Trump but was, instead, the representative of all of us. Well and good but oh how the times have changed.
Today, by any fair and objective measure, Attorney General Merrick Garland is anything BUT the representative of us all. He is beyond dispute an aggressively partisan advocate for President Biden. His loyalty and devotion to the President is on display with nearly every action of his department but none so obvious and improper as his actions where Hunter Biden and the rest of the Biden family are concerned.
Every law student is expected to complete at least one class in legal ethics in which, among other topics, the concept of conflict of interest will be parsed and analyzed. We may assume that even Mr. Garland took such a class. We hope he paid attention to the lectures. The FBI, a part of the Department of Justice, has “leaked” information that Hunter Biden is about to be indicted on charges related to lying on an application for a firearm and perhaps tax fraud.
The thousand-pound gorillas in this room are, of course, the questions of whether Hunter Biden’s business activities created national security concerns and whether his father, the President, participated, even indirectly, in those activities.
Ratcatcher does not know the answers to those questions but we believe that it is imperative that a thorough investigation of those questions must be made by authorities with the power to subpoena records, take sworn testimony, and, if appropriate, indict individuals suspected of criminal activities, even if one of those is the President! That will never occur while the investigation is conducted by the Garland Department of Justice. Mr. Garland must appoint a special prosecutor to conduct such an investigation in order to maintain even the semblance of propriety. Mr. Garland, with this extraordinary relationship with President Biden, is incapable of conducting an objective and disinterested inquiry into these questions. The stink of corruption has shrouded the Biden Presidency and Mr. Garland’s leadership of the Department of Justice since the beginning. The very act of the FBI is squelching the content of the Hunter Biden laptop in October, 2020, signaled that the fix was in. Nothing done since that date has changed the perception of rampant corruption in the Department of Justice. While Ratcatcher believes it is unlikely that Mr. Garland will take our advice and appoint a special prosecutor, that is the only step that can begin to return a semblance of honor to his department.
Are you listening Mr. Garland?
