Disclose the Leaker

American’s attention span is often alleged to be short. We are accused of having a very short attention span – like maybe the length of a normal TV commercial. Whether that is accurate, Ratcatcher will leave to you, the reader, to decide.
Regardless of the duration of our attention span, it is well past time for the Chief Justice to report the results of the investigation into the unconscionable leak of the draft opinion in Dobbs vs. Jackson, the case that has reversed Roe vs. Wade and Casey vs. Planned Parenthood. The integrity of the Supreme Court depends on a clear and complete report on the leak, the leaker, and the consequences to the leaker for such a flagrant violation. At present, the ability of the justices to get their work done is in doubt due to the intentional destruction of the highly confidential relationship that has existed among the justices. When the leak first became known there was a great hue and cry among conservatives demanding that the leaker be identified and severely punished. Predictably, the Left, staunch supporters of abortion, applauded the leaker for having the courage to do something totally illegitimate and revolutionary. After all, the end justifies the means, right? That is the foundational principle of the Democrat Party. Thus far, Chief Justice Roberts has done absolutely nothing to restore the confidence of the public in the Court. He has failed to identify the leaker. He has failed to pursue suitable punishment including, at the very least, disbarment from all courts to which the leaker may be admitted to practice law. In short, Chief Justice Roberts has utterly failed to reassure America that justice has and will be done and that the source of the leak has been rooted out. Ratcatcher wonders whether this sad episode in the history of the Supreme Court will simply join the long list of other instances in which clear violations of law and ethics went unpunished. The list is well-known and too long to restate here. Will it be another example of the two-tiered justice system. Exemption for the elite and harsh consequences for the rest of us?
