No One Is Above The Law

The drumbeat began last week: No one is above the law. CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and talking heads representing the DNC have repeated the mantra as if, in repeating it, they would work some magic to convince America that Donald Trump is guilty of crimes against the country. The mindless repetition added nothing to the facts; it is merely blather.

Donald Trump is the 45th President of the United States. He is a citizen of America and, the statements of Pelosi to the contrary notwithstanding, he is presumed innocent. He is not required to prove his innocence. To our knowledge, the President has not claimed that he is above the law. He has not claimed that he is exempt from prosecution for real criminal behavior. But he has claimed that he is entitled to be treated the same as anyone else; no worse and no better.

But taking the Democrats at their word, America ought to demand that, since no one is above the law, it should be levied against those whose conduct has clearly been illegal. The list is long but worth repeating although this list will probably be incomplete.

We’ll begin with She who would be King. Former FBI Director, James Comey, read a lengthy list of conduct of Mrs. Clinton that he described as “reckless” and then, surprisingly, concluded that no prosecutor would prosecute her for that conduct. He was roundly criticized for his own statements and challenged openly about his conclusion. Many legal scholars opined that her conduct was flatly illegal. Smashing cell phones, using bleach-bit on computers, and destroying over 30,000 emails when subpoenaed to provide them. “Nothing to see here.” After all, no one is above the law.

James Comey’s illegal recording of conversations; entrapment of General Michael Flynn, release of confidential information; and his own lying to Congress provide ample evidence for his arrest. But, no one is above the law so there is nothing to be done here.

Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Rob Rosenstein all figured in the failed attempts to impeach President Trump, lying to Congress, federal judges, and, of course, the American public. But since no one is above the law, none was prosecuted.

But, of course, the Big Kahuna in the world of crime is Hunter Biden and his father. The record of criminal conduct is so extensive and well-documented that it does not require recitation here. Since no one is above the law, we should expect indictments of both Hunter and Joe and, perhaps brother Jim, right? Right!

And this last underscores the tragedy that the indictment of President Trump is for the American legal system. It holds up for the entire world to see the sham and hypocrisy of the claim that all are equal before the law; that no one is favored or disfavored in a court of law. To quote the current mantra, that no one is above the law. But the evidence screams differently.
