The Assault on Truth Continues Apace

Ratcatcher’s last two posts have concerned the assault on freedom of speech and expression. Here is a perfect example of the excess and stupidity of the Left when it attempts to restrict speech.

The Babylon Bee is a well-known satirical publication. It specializes in poking the establishment and those who think they are above criticism. The Bee does not discriminate in targeting the self-satisfied and routinely features satirical comment on Republicans, the religious, as well as the Left. The thugs at Twitter notified the editors of The Bee over the weekend that they have been locked out of their Twitter account engaging in "hateful conduct."

What was the hateful conduct? One of its satirical pieces awarded Rachel Levine, designation as “Man of the Year.” Levine is a man who is a transgender woman. Levine was named by USA Today as one of the top women of the year. Clearly, The Bee article was a joke. But here’s the real and very sad joke. First, the childish thugs at Twitter apparently do not understand humor – can’t figure out a joke – and they assume that their subscribers who might happen to read The Bee satire can’t tell a joke either – Twitter thinks they are inferior and stupid. The other joke in all of this is that Levine really IS a man – he and her friends can claim all day long that he is a woman, but those claims will not change Levine’s genetic makeup or his physiology. Levine still has only one X chromosome and one Y chromosome.

Twitter’s attack on The Babylon Bee perfectly illustrates the point we made in “My Truth Is the Only Truth,” “once “truth” becomes unmoored from the absolute, it is plastic and can be made to be anything that anyone wants it to be. The new “truth” will continue to silence and restrict the thoughts and expressions of those who practice it.”

When even jokes can be censored, we are rapidly approaching the point where no speech of any kind will be prohibited if spoken or published by a disfavored person. Think about that !
