“The Biden Rule” -- What Americans Don’t Deserve to Know

For the past two weeks, Republican candidates and conservative media have tried without success to pin down Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on the question of whether they support packing the United States Supreme Court. During his first (and only??) debate with President Trump, former Vice President Biden refused to answer the question claiming that his answer would then become an issue in the election. He was, of course, absolutely correct. The tragedy is that Mr. Biden did not seem to grasp the irony of his reply. He is running for the presidency [or the Senate, depending on the day he is speaking] and the Court is a central issue in every presidential election. Senator Harris, when asked the same question during her vice presidential debate, first smiled dismissively at Vice President Pence, and then deflected and claimed that the President had been “packing” the courts by his overall judicial nominations. The so-called “legacy media” [liberal media] is no interested and will not ask the question. Over the weekend of October 10th, Mr. Biden was asked again and on that occasion announced that the American public does not “deserve” to know whether he would support packing the Supreme Court. Taking a page from Nancy Pelosi, Mr. Biden said that Americans would find out after the election. We’ve seen that movie before – “You have to pass it to learn what’s in it.” That statement is breathtaking, but again, save for Fox News and a few other conservative outlets, the media was silent.

The Ratcatcher has a list of other issues about which Mr. Biden should be asked and, if necessary, pressed, as to whether American voters deserve to know his position on the following:

1. Does Mr. Biden support getting rid of the Electoral College? [Residents of small states such as Maine, New Hampshire, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, etc. should pay particular attention to his answer since they may lose all of their ability to influence presidential elections of the future].

2. Does Mr. Biden support the admission of the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as states, thereby effectively creating a permanent Democrat majority in the Senate?

3. Does Mr. Biden agree with Senator Schumer that the Senate filibuster should be abolished for all purposes, thereby creating simple majority control on all matters before the Senate?

4. And, of course, does Mr. Biden support the proposal to pack the Supreme Court?

There are, of course, numerous other specific issues Mr. Biden ought to be forced to addressed including his support for opening the Southern Border to unlimited immigration; the adoption of a universal medical plan controlled by the federal government; free tuition for colleges and universities, to name but a few.

The Ratcatcher believes that Americans who care about their country must take steps to explain to Mr. Biden that they deserve answers to these questions. In the absence of his response, voters are entitled to conclude that Mr. Biden does, in fact, support all four of these issues and they should then vote accordingly.
