The “Tolerant” Left and Judge Jackson

The Senate Judiciary Committee has been awash in pontification about tolerance and the importance of giving Judge Jackson a fair and even-handed hearing unlike those given to Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett. Demands for fairness and tolerance of disparate views are standard in the Democrat playbook; they have a hard time putting those demands into practice.

While Senate Democrats were busy making headlines about Judge Jackson’s qualifications and attacking as racist anyone who questioned her qualifications, their allies from Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and similar organizations were busily practicing their own version of tolerance on the steps of the very Supreme Court to which Judge Jackson aspires. Only their form of “tolerance” was very intolerant.

Pro-abortion protesters screamed obscenities. They told pro-life demonstrators that they “should have been aborted.” Another pro-life person was threatened by one of the pro-abortion woman with the words “I’m going to f*ck you up.” Another pro-abort shoved her to the ground. Others from Students for Life were also shoved into the street by one of the rabid pro-abortion mob and hit in the face.

This is the face of the “tolerant” Democrat Party. That same intolerance will be leveled against anyone who dares to speak up in favor of traditional values, respect for the law and the Constitution, and normal civility. The challenge posed by the Students for Life is based on the record of Judge Jackson in cases involving defending partial birth abortion in Nebraska, silencing pro-life voices in Massachusetts, and muzzling student-led prayer in schools in New Mexico. Judge Jackson’s judicial record tells us exactly how she thinks about matters of public policy and what her “judicial philosophy” is even if she, herself, will not own up to it.
