There Are More of Us Than Them. Stand Up!

Normal Americans can take a lesson from the smash and grab criminals running rampant across America. Week in and week out we are treated to images of crowds of thieves descending on stores to loot whatever suits their fancy. No one stops them; no one interferes. We see film of security guards standing idly by as the criminals leave the stores with bags of loot, secure in the knowledge that they will likely not be apprehended at all; and if apprehended, they will not be prosecuted. The criminals have won, at least in part, because they learned they could overwhelm civil society simply by showing up in large numbers.

To our shame, Americans have willingly complied with the demands of “experts” and authority figures during the past two years demanding the wearing of masks, the acceptance of multiple injections of vaccines of questionable efficacy, the submission of our children to the outrages of Critical Race Theory, and the refusal of various governmental agencies, including the White House, to be transparent and accountable to the people. Perhaps no events better illustrate both the sheeplike compliance that has come to characterize Americans on the one hand and their willingness to stand up to the demagogues on the other than the following.

First, as noted by Dr. Larry Arn in a recent speech, “. . . 50,000 doctors, scientists, and medical researchers signed the Great Barrington Declaration.” The Declaration affirmed that a government cannot “suppress a widely disseminated contagious virus through shutdowns and mass isolation” without inflicting terrible damage, including “unemployment, bankruptcy, depression, suicide, multiplying public debt, broken supply chains, and increases of other serious health problems.” But the Declaration was not read or even heard of by most Americans. Why? It was nearly totally ignored by the media and those who knew of it failed to act. Passivity by Americans allowed the authoritarians to prolong their control and domination.

Consider the other response. Dr. Arn cites two examples of the kind of popular response Ratcatcher is urging. In Northern Michigan a restaurant owner was ordered by the State authorities [authoritarians!!] to close. He refused. He was cited repeatedly and fined. But he persisted. Locals and visitors from neighboring states showed up to patronize his restaurant and help him stay in business. Ratcatcher applauds that; it confirms our premise – there are more of us than of them.

The second event gained national media attention and probably even swayed the election of a governor. Parents in Loudon County, Virginia, learned of the perverse CRT being taught to their children. They attended school board meetings and objected. They were loud, boisterous, and vociferous in their objections. They asserted that they, as parents, had the right to control how and what was taught to their children. One candidate for the governorship disagreed, claiming [as a proper authoritarian would claim], that the parents had no business interfering with or influencing how their children were educated. He lost the election by a significant margin. There were more of us than of them in Virginia and the parents stood up!

It is far past time for the people of America to stand up and resist the authoritarians who assert the right and power to regulate our lives, limit what we can do, where we can go, and to punish our children for the imaginary sins of their fathers. It is time for the majority to stand up for what is right; to demand our rights; and to tell the authoritarians where they can take their rules. In the end, there are more of us than there are of them. Like the smash and grab criminals, if we simply decide to ignore the illegal and unreasonable rules, relying on our God-given and constitutionally protected rights, and act in coordinated groups – large groups -- the authoritarians will lose.
